Elsenham Report 2006
Population

Apart from limited, “Infilling,” almost all-available land within the, “Village Development Envelope,” has been built upon. The population stands at a little short of 1900 (excluding children). The source is from Uttlesford District Council Register of Electors (15th October 2006, 1824). There has been a little increase to 1900 to date.

Building

The Elsenham Parish Council opposes building outside the Village Envelope. There is a proposed development between Elsenham Railway Station and the village of Henham. Part of this would be in the Parish of Elsenham but definitely outside the existing development envelope. This is seen as putting a strain on the roads and existing infrastructure. The outcome is expected later in 2007.

Parish Council

For information: - The Council has complete Minutes of all meetings since its conception. The location of these can be obtained from the Parish Clerk.

In 2007 Mr J. Hurwitz retired as Chairman of the Council, having served for in excess of 40 years in this post. The new Parish Council Chairman is Mr. Stewart Pimlett.

Internal Publications

The “Elsenham News,” continues to be produced voluntarily from within the Village. It is distributed free to all households on a monthly basis. An archive of all past copies (almost 4 decades) is available. At present the Editorial Team holds it. Contact can be made via the Parish Council Clerk.

The Village has its own Web Site (www.elsenhamvillage.co.uk); the current webmaster, Geof Woolvin, (Elsenham Parish Councillor), runs this.
